105th anniversary of the Day of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan celebrated in Berlin

On June 26, 2023, an event was organized at the Azerbaijan Cultural Center on the occasion of the 105th anniversary of the Day of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The event was attended by high-ranking representatives of the German Ministry of Defense and other state structures, ambassadors, military attachés of various countries, media representatives, figures of science and culture, as well as members of Azerbaijani, Turkish and other communities living in Germany.

The national anthems of Azerbaijan and Germany were played firstly at the event. Then the guests watched a short film dedicated to the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The event also marked a minute of silence in memory of the victims who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan.

Addressing the event, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Germany Nasimi Aghayev talked of the glorious path passed by the Azerbaijani National Army established 105 years ago. He noted that the establishment of the National Army was one of the first and most important measures taken by the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. Ambassador Aghayev emphasized that after the restoration of independence, during the presidency of the founder of modern Azerbaijani statehood, National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the Armed Forces were further strengthened. He added that under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev, the Armed Forces liberated Azerbaijani lands from occupation and restored the territorial integrity of the country.

Colonel Ahmad Gafarov, Military Attaché of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Federal Republic of Germany, then informed the participants about the current status of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, its contribution to international peace and security, and its cooperation at the international and bilateral levels.

The speeches were followed by a concert. Musicians - vocalist Javid Samedov and pianist Nargiz Orujlu - performed works by famous Azerbaijani composers - Gara Garayev, Muslim Magomayev, Asaf Zeynalli, Vagif Mustafazade, as well as European composers.
